    On the 14/03/2008, Somneuk, a 3 year old elephant calf died at the Elephant XL Camp, Luang Prabang. Prior to his death Elephant XL Camp and ElefantAsia had observed and treated Somneuk for veterinary ailments. After his death, both Elephant XL and Elefant Asia held each other responsible.

Veterinary health care

The majority of Laos’ domesticated elephants work in rural and remote areas. These areas are often very difficult to access. Despite this, ElefantAsia aims to improve to the health and sanitary conditions of elephants. We provide mahouts with the basic training needed to care for their sick or injured elephants.
